The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer.
Normally you will not receive this message unless you start removing software drivers or utilities preinstalled by Sony.
All special functions on sony vaio computers are controlled via sofware. When these utilities are corrupt or missing, special functions on the computer may stop working.
Apprximately 80% to 90% of the custom Windows clean install face this issue. Most savy computer users will not like how the computer is shipped from manufacturing. We don't blame them. Who wants all the garbage pre-installed on these computers anyway?
We agree with all those users who wants to format their sony VAIO and remove all the junk sitting on it. Unfortunately formatting and installing a clean windows on Sony VAIO can be very challenging. The most common issue with a windows clean install is with the battery.
Throughout the process you may encounter: "The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer"
Not even Sony Technical support will be able to help you when you encounter the battery error message. Do not get me wrong...Sony's support may be able to walk you through to restore your computer to factory settings by using The restore CDS if you have one. You can also restore your computer by pressing F10, assuming that you did not delete the restore partition during your Windows clean install.
Wait, what is the point of setting the computer back to factory settings, you did not want those junks on the computer to begin with; therefore restoring the computer to factory setting is not the solution in this situation.
You wanted a clean install, that is the whole point of formatting the computer right? For the most part when you perform a clean install on a sony vaio computer you are on your own. Based on our experience when dealing with Sony tech support, they will not be able to provide you a solution to that battery message because they don't know.
From model to model the sofware packages are precompiled slightly different, but they are very much the same packages in all models.
The following are three main packages that control these functions. These main packages may contains other bundled utilities depending on the model of the computer.
Notebook control and Utilites
Beside these three packages there are other separate utilities that are dependant to them. Sony's Tech support does not know what causes the battery message to be triggered. Some users who have managed to bypass this utility reffers to the ISB Utility, as a partial solution. and that is disabling the utility from startup. Disabling the ISB Utility is not the right solution.
